Ferguson Field

Ferguson field is located behind the high school and is used  by high school junior varsity and freshmen football and soccer teams.  The junior high football also uses this field for their home games.

The field, named to honor Bob Ferguson who was a 1958 Troy High School graduate,  is considered  to be one the finest running back in Troy football history.   In one game he managed 529 yards which was a state record at the time. 

Ferguson, an All-American fullback at Ohio State University, played  for Woody Hayes from 1959-1961.  He was the Heisman Trophy runner-up in 1961.  During his three years at Ohio State, the 220-pound Ferguson accumulated 2,304 yards for an average of 5 yards a carry.  

Ferguson played for the Pittsburgh Steelers for two years and one season with the Minnesota Vikings .  

Mr. Ferguson died in 2005 at the age of 64.
